Mathematical Body Art

One of the things I want to do more of is to blog on general topics that I find interesting. Even though this is predominantly a MATLAB blog, it doesn’t always have to be about MATLAB. Today’s post focuses on tattoos, but I managed to sneak in some MATLAB content.
Tattoos!
Tattoos are prevalent throughout our society and its not uncommon to see various objects imprinted on people’s skin such as: hearts, names of loved ones, the sun, stars, or other crazy works of art. Usually, tattoos are associated with thugs, gangsters, rebels, and hip people. Rarely do you associate tattoos with engineers, mathematicians, or geeks in general. But I am out to change all of that!
The Inspiration
Last Sunday, I was having dinner with one of my friends, Don Luong. Don has a huge tatto spanning across his back with some remarkable artwork. I was quite impressed with the art, and it inspired me to consider getting a tattoo. Being a nerdy engineer, I want my tattoo to have something to do with Math, Science, Engineering, or just anything geeky in general. But on the flip side, I also want the tattoo to convey a sense of “damn that is cool” that will impress the general public (mostly the women). How cool would it be to have the MATLAB logo on my bicep? I’m pretty sure that it would be a chic magnet of epic proportions.
Cool Tattoos
I was doing some research online and I came across some cool body art related to math, science, and video games. Here are some of the ones that I really liked:

Undecided on my Tattoo
I think I will get a tattoo on my back that has something to do with a mathematical equation or a cool combination of greek letters. If anyone has any cool ideas for a mathematical, engineering, or scientific tattoo, please share in the comments section!!
Recommendation to Doug Hull
I would recommend that Doug Hull get a giant MATLAB logo etched over his back. Since Doug lives, eats, and breathes MATLAB, it would make logical sense to get a MATLAB tattoo as well. He would be the ultimate embodiment of MATLAB and a fearless avatar for the language of technical computing.
Other MATLAB Tattoo ideas
Other MATLAB-centric ideas that I came up with were getting clc, clear all, close all on the left bicep. Another cool one might be:
whos
βαδ
That would show true dedication to MATLAB and would probably result in a nice raise if you are an employee at The MathWorks. I wonder if there is anyone out there with some sort of MATLAB tattoo. Please take a picture and send it to us if you know of anyone!

Include MATLAB code in your comment by doing the following:

If I get the tattoo, I wonder if I can fill out an expense report to the Marketing Department at The MathWorks.
Doug
We have often wondered if anyone has a MATLAB tattoo. As near as we can tell, no one does, yet…
COOL!
ha ha ha, my husband has got the caffine tattoo! He got it a little while ago now, on his forearm.
I really like this one: Adenosine triphosphate, the source of all energy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adenosine_triphosphate)

You gotta love geek tattoos
Hey Quan,
One word for your tattoo - FRACTALS!
(wish I’d thought of it earlier)
