The Modern Life

My friend sent me this picture the other day as a joke, but I think that unfortunately it is probably true for many of us. Personally, I know I spend about 95% of my time in front of a computer. If I had a Blackberry or I-Phone it would be closer to 100%.

The typical day in the life of Quan Quach goes something like this:

8:00 am - Wake up, immediately turn on computer to check email. Spend 10-15 minutes browsing the web and responding to urgent emails. Turn on winamp and listen to some tunes.

9:00 am - Arrive at work. Hop on the computer and check work email. Depending on whether or not there are meetings, I usually just start chugging along and spit out some MATLAB code.

12:00 pm - Lunch time. Grab some lunch at the cafeteria and check personal mail. Check up on blinkdagger website and make sure everything running smoothly. Sometimes I will go out for lunch and bring my laptop to the local Panera Bread (they offer free wi-fi) and eat lunch while surfing the web.

1:00 pm - Back to MATLAB coding.

5:00 pm - Go home and yes, immediately check e-mail once again. If any of you are wondering why it takes so long for me to respond to you via email when I check it so often . . . the only feasible answer is that I’m lazy!

6:00 pm - Make dinner and eat it in front of computer. With full episodes of my favorite shows (Heroes, Prison Break, etc) being offered online, there is no need to eat in front of the television!

7:00 pm - On days where I feel motivated, I start writing for the website. Most of this time is spent responding to questions we get through the contact form or responding to comments. In many instances, I just end up playing video games. Right now, I’m currently playing some Rock Band 2, DotA, and some games I downloaded at the playstation store (Street Fighter II remix, Bionic Commando Remix)

11:00pm - Get ready for bed, but not before checking email once again.

Sleep: Think about what kind of tutorials I can write in the future and how to improve the website. This usually puts me to sleep real fast.
